Dr. Ryen Birkinbine
Dr. Birkinbine grew up in the Twin Cities region of Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. Following his undergraduate studies, he moved west to Colorado where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Colorado.
After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Birkinbine completed a three-year hospital-based residency program in Dental Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During his training at UPMC, Dr. Birkinbine provided anesthetic management for patients of all ages and health statuses. As a dental anesthesiology resident, he was able to train alongside his medical colleagues and provide care to patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures and specialties. In addition to direct anesthesia training, he also completed rotations in internal medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonology and advanced lung disease, and pediatric emergency medicine.
He is especially grateful for his pediatric focused training at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as well as the opportunity to provide care for medically complex patients at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Patients with Special Needs. Dr. Birkinbine also received extensive training in outpatient office-based anesthesia specifically for maxillofacial and dental procedures. He is passionate about expanding access to dental care for his patients that are either apprehensive, anxious or unable to tolerate dental work in a traditional setting.
In his free time, Dr. Birkinbine can be found exploring the outdoors with his wife, Suzanne and their dog. They enjoy spending time in the mountains camping, skiing, mountain biking, or catching the sunrise on the summit of a Colorado 14er. Dr. Birkinbine is honored to be back in Colorado and strives to provide his patients with the highest level of care and respect.

Dr. Taylor Gordon
Dr. Gordon was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, where he studied biology and obtained his undergraduate degree with honors in 2011. He went on to attend dental school at the Ohio State University, where he graduated with honors in 2015. Dr. Gordon began his pursuit of training in anesthesiology after discovering that he could combine his dental training with his aptitude for medicine, pharmacology, and physiology.
Dr. Gordon completed a three-year residency in dental anesthesiology within the top-ranked University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During his training, Dr. Gordon completed rotations in internal medicine, critical care medicine, cardiology, and pediatric emergency medicine. He also provided anesthesia for a wide variety of surgical procedures and specialties including general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics, plastic surgery, trauma, orthopedics, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, ENT, maxillofacial surgery, and more.
One of the greatest advantages to his training was the time spent specifically with dental patients in an office-based setting, where he treated patients of all ages and health statuses. The University of Pittsburgh is home to the Center for Patients with Special Needs, where Dr. Gordon treated hundreds of patients who were either turned away by or unable to cooperate with treatment at traditional dental practices and children’s hospitals. Some of the most rewarding work in Dr. Gordon’s career involves providing access to care for patients with special needs as well as to children, who are often pre-cooperative or afraid of dental treatment.
Dr. Gordon’s mission is to provide a full range of safe, office-based anesthesiology services to dental patients of all ages and levels of cooperation. When he is not working, Dr. Gordon enjoys road cycling, playing ice hockey, and spending time outdoors. Dr. Gordon is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Shaheen Moezzi
Dr. Moezzi is originally from Las Vegas, NV. After high school, he attended
the University of Nevada Reno majoring in Economics. During college he
was fortunate enough to study abroad in Costa Rica for a semester. While
there, he was able to learn conversational Spanish, which has proven
useful when communicating with patients. Dr. Moezzi received his dental
degree from the University of Southern California in 2011 before
completing a three-year Residency in Oral/Maxillofacial Anesthesiology at
The Ohio State University. After residency, he stayed on as a full-time
Anesthesia Attending Faculty until 2014 when he relocated to Denver to
work in private practice limited to providing Anesthesia services for dentists and dental specialists. Dr. Moezzi is currently a part-time Clinical Instructor at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where he enjoys working with the residents and students. Additionally, Dr. Moezzi remains active in organized dentistry and serves as the Chair of the Colorado Dental Association’s New Dentist Committee. Dr. Moezzi is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. James Villalon
Dr. Villalon is a native of Southern Colorado and grew up in the city of Pueblo. He is the son of local dentist Dr. Elmer Villalon. While growing up Dr. Villalon commuted from Pueblo to Colorado Springs to attend St. Mary’s High School. He later attended the University of Northern Colorado where he earned degrees in Community Health and Communication. While an undergrad at UNC Dr. Villalon was active in student government and was twice elected as Student Body Vice President. He was also active in Greek life and was elected President of the Interfraternity Council.
After completing his undergraduate studies Dr. Villalon pursued his interests in community health and completed a Master of Public Health degree at UNC. Realizing a desire to continue to help people on a more individual basis, Dr. Villalon began a post-baccalaureate program in pre-medicine at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Dr. Villalon was accepted into the dental medicine program at the prestigious Howard University in Washington, DC, where he was elected Student Body President of the Dental School.
After dental school he completed a one year hospital based general practice residency program at Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he learned advanced general dentistry, and how to manage medically complex patients. While at Rutgers University Hospital Dr. Villalon rotated through the Internal Medicine, Special Needs Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Anesthesiology departments. At this time, Dr. Villalon was exposed to field of anesthesiology for the first time and he immediately fell in love with the specialty. After completing his GPR program Dr. Villalon entered a three year medical/dental anesthesiology residency program at the New York City, level 1 trauma center, St. Barnabas Hospital. During his time as a resident at St. Barnabas, Dr. Villalon rotated through the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Medical Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Ear Nose & Throat clinics. Dr. Villalon administered anesthesia for all types of procedures at St. Barnabas including: General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Urology, Gastroenterology, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery, Trauma, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiac Catherization, Vascular Surgery, Ear Nose and Throat, Gynecology, Organ Harvest, Special Needs Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, and Oral Maxillofacial surgery.

Claudia was born and raised in El Paso, TX. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso before moving to Colorado. She has worked in the dental field since 2003. Claudia loves spending time with her two kids Aaron and Aiza.
